From Harlem 5th Av to Green St SoHo

The streetscape on the left is the view down 5th Avenue from 120th St in Harlem. The view was possible from atop the lookout point
in Marcus Garvey Park and was nearby the bed and breakfast we were staying, Mont Morris.

Known as the Mont Morris Historical district
this part of Harlem was still shambolical but undergoing dramatic renovation.
It seemed every brownstone was boarded up for reconstruction. As our cab driver rounded the block for a second time
(needlessly, she knew what she was doing) we we wondering seriously what had we done! We discovered to our delight
that our rooms in the B&B were "finished" but the rest of the four storey brownstone was boarded up due to renovation.
This view down 5th Avenue was icing on the cake. Part of our deal at the B & B included breakfast and coffee at a nearby
brand new cafe, Settepani. The muffins and coffee were excellent as was the staff, particularly Mark, who we saw
every morning for the seven we stayed. New Yorkers are very hard working. We wished we were better off to have tipped
more in such cases.

On the right is SoHo in all its funky glory, we found streets like Green St to be full of character and charm but unfortunatley didn't
find any Galleries that could claim to be anything more than high priced houses of decor.
Shame, but the area is still well worth the visit of course.
