Details in Terracotta
Terracotta
is extensively used in Chicago for building details, indeed the material
is used to cover entire buildings
(see Carbide & Carbon page).
This particularly elegant example was taken whilst we were riding
the elevated railway, The Loop or "L". You would never see
this sort of detail from ground level - it is almost like they had
the "L" in mind in the case of some building's details.
I had to be quick
taking this shot and was lucky enough to have the zoom and focus work
out.
